Brian B. McArthur 

 

A construction worker from a small mining community in Northern Ontario, Brian McArthur has risen up the ranks of both the labor and business communities to become one of North America's most trusted and experienced labor relations professionals.

 

A proven labor and employee relations expert, Mr. McArthur has more than twenty-five (25) years experience acting as Chief Negotiator in more than 350 rounds of collective bargaining in both the public and private sectors throughout North America. He has negotiated collective agreements in such diverse professions as law enforcement to retail. He specializes in controversial and complex negotiations and has the ability to successfully navigate through the potential minefields of the North American collective bargaining system.

 

As a relationship builder, Mr. McArthur’s non-confrontational, diplomatic style produces long-term, stable relationships with unions. He has formalized training in interest–based bargaining and utilizes the technique whenever possible.

 

As the former National Director of Collective Bargaining for Canada’s largest private sector trade union (UFCW), Mr. McArthur has intimate knowledge of the labor movement in both Canada and the United States. He knows what makes unions tick and the tactics they employ to organize and use leverage in collective bargaining. His experience on the management-side of the table is extensive as well and makes him very balanced as an effective labor negotiator.

 

Academically, Mr. McArthur has a Master’s degree in Law and Employment Relations (with Distinction) from one of Britain’s leading law schools and has specialized training in negotiations from Harvard Law School. He also has an undergraduate degree in Political Science and other labor relations training acquired across the continent. 

 

Mr. McArthur has unrestricted work access to the United States and Canada. His ability to travel is unrestricted and he is able to take on assignments on very short notice.
